Coffee Stain began in 2012 in Publika, started by siblings Sylvia, Sam, and Edmond with a simple idea — to create a place where good coffee and good conversations could happen naturally.
At that time, specialty coffee in Kuala Lumpur was still very new. We didn’t start with a big plan or a perfect business strategy. What we had was curiosity, long hours of learning, and a genuine love for coffee. We experimented constantly, made plenty of mistakes, and slowly figured out what kind of café we wanted to build — one that felt honest, welcoming, and focused on quality.
For us, a stain is beautiful, personal and permanent. To the farmers, it is about connection that is made. To the drinker, it is an experience of how a single cup could change their lives. And to us at Coffee Stain, it is about friendship that will last a lifetime.
